Rolf Stahlhofen sammelt Geld für Wasserprojekte in Afrika

Anlässlich der Flutkatastrophe in Ostdeutschland organisierte der Mannheimer Sänger und Musiker Rolf Stahlhofen 2002 ein Benefizkonzert. Namhafte deutsche und internationale Künstler spielten damals in der ausverkauften Maimarkthalle. Gleichzeitig wurde der Verein „Menschen am Fluss e.V.“ gegründet, der alle Erlöse an Betroffene vor Ort schickte. So konnten mit den Geldern an Elbe und Mulde zum Beispiel Jugendclubs wieder aufgebaut werden. Darüber hinaus bekamen Menschen, an denen die offizielle Hilfe vorbei ging, Unterstützung vom Verein. Das Konzert war ein großer Erfolg, so dass sich Rolf Stahlhofen entschloss die Aktion weiterzuführen.

Am 03. September 2005 lud er erneut Musiker und Freunde zu einem Benefizkonzert in die SAP-Arena Mannheim. Dabei waren u.a. Roachford, Mousse T., Emma Landford, Silbermond, Badesalz, Peter Maffay, Die Söhne Mannheims, Joy Fleming, und Sasha. Alle begleitet vom “Mannem Soul Orchestra”. Schirmherr war Kult-Rocker Udo Lindenberg. Gut fünf Stunden ging die Party vor über 10 000 Besuchern. Sponsoren hatten es ermöglicht, dass alle Einnahmen zu 100% weitergeleitet werden konnten. In Kooperation mit „Deine Stimme gegen Armut“ und „World University Service“ wurden damit sieben Wasserstationen in Eritrea gebaut. Und zwar in Dörfern, die von Entwicklungshilfe in der Regel ausgeschlossen sind. So haben diese Menschen eine faire Chance, sich aus ihrer unverschuldeten Armut herauszuarbeiten.”, sagt Stahlhofen. „Jeder an den Konzerten eingenommene oder sonst gespendete Euro wurde für dieses Hilfsprojekt eingesetzt.”

Inzwischen hat sich in den Dörfern ein normales Leben entwickelt. Kinder können wieder zur Schule gehen, weil sie nicht stundenlang mit ihren Müttern zur nächsten Wasserstelle laufen müssen. Menschen aus anderen Teilen des Landes siedeln sich hier an und tragen so zur Entwicklung der Dorfgemeinschaft bei. Praktizierte Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe.

In Kooperation mit „Deine Stimme gegen Armut“ und „World University Service“ konnten die kompletten Erlöse aus 2005 in Solarwasserstationen in Eritrea investiert werden.

Benefit-concert for solarwaterstations in Africa

After a big flood in the eastern part of Germany in 2002, the musician Rolf Stahlhofen founded „Menschen am Fluss e.V.“ (people on the river) – a registered, non-profit association. He invited well known international and national artist to a big concert for flood-victims in Mannheim. All revenues were brought to the people in East-Germany for rebuilding their homes or youth-clubs. Stahlhofen gave the money mostly to families, who had nothing from the official help of the german gouvernment. Because of the big sucess of the concert, Rolf Stahlhofen decided to continue.

On the 3th of September 2005 he invited again big national and international names in the new SAP-Arena in Mannheim. Acts like Mousse T., Emma Landford, Sasha, Söhne Mannheims, Peter Maffay, Jim Kahr or Silbermond played a five hours party in front of 10 000 visitors, supported by the „Mannem Soul Orchestra“. Sponsors made it possible, that all the revenues could be forwarded to people in Africa. In cooperation with „Your voice against poverty“ and „World University Service“, solar-water-stations were builded in seven villages in Eritrea. Places were regular development aid never comes in.

„We give these people a fair chance, to work themself out of their poverty, which wasn´t their fault“, Stahlhofen says. „Every Euro we got out of the concert, was invested in this aid-project.“

In the meantime a normal live has developed in the villages. Because of the water stations, children can go to school again. They don´t have to walk hours to the next water whole any more. People from other parts of the country came settleing here and the community is still growing. Helping others to help themselves in practice !

In 2008 Rolf Stahlhofen will do the tribute concert for the 3^rd time. On Popular acts and newcomers will join the stage for people in Africa. All supported by a 45 members All Star Band „Rolf Stahlhofen & friends“. Visitors can expect a miscellaneous program, with many different artist and various styles. Water for Africa

The revenues of the concert should be invested in solar-water-stations in Africa. In cooperation with „Wold University Service“, „Your voice against poverty“ and the United Nations, Rolf Stahlhofen and his association will bring the money to places were regular development help doesn´t get through.

With money from 2005 seven waterstations were builded in the villages of Fana, Aderba, Krdbares, Grnesaba, Meder, Abo und Adeylo (Eritrea).
